The Secret to Building Confidence

Hey there - happy 2021!

If you’re like me, last night’s sleep was R-O-U-G-H.

Not because I had one too many hot buttered rums before bed (ok, well, maybe – and for the record, it only takes one!).

More likely, though, it was because last night was a Sunday.

And not just any Sunday, but the Sunday before the first Monday of 2021.

Oof, it was like the Surly Sundays on steroids in my house yesterday. How about you?

Don’t get me wrong: I am excited and energized by my plans for the year ahead. I’ve made some goals, set some intentions, and feel ready to get going.

So why the rough sleep?

Because now it’s time to do.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I love to talk about Being. Like building the foundation of a house, how we want to be and how we want to feel is foundational groundwork we have to lay in order to take any long-lasting action.

That’s because Being is connected to our Why. Our purpose.

The problem is that we can know our Why and still not feel propelled into action.

We can be clued into how we want to BE, and still struggle to DO.

“Confidence is the successful repetition of any endeavor.”

Or at least that’s what Debbie Millman says.

And it’s the quote that rang in my ears this morning as I woke up in darkness and hopped on my Peloton.

See, I have a birthday coming up. A big one. And one of my wishes for BEING at this birthday is feeling strong and healthy in my body. Feeling confident, proud, and at ease in my body.

But just because I know that’s how I want to BE, doesn’t mean I am always prepared or ready to DO.

Put more plainly: I know how I want to feel when I turn 40 – but actually bringing that to life is another story entirely.

Confidence is the successful repetition of any endeavor.

And sometimes we just gotta DO.

So even if I don’t feel strong and healthy in my body, I get on the bike anyway. Because, by showing up today and returning to it again tomorrow, I’m building muscles.

Literal muscles.

And confidence muscles.

Sometimes we just gotta DO.

How do you want to BE in 2021?

And, like skipping ahead to the last page of a book, what can you DO today?

What action can you take today, and then again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day – to reverse engineer the way of being that you hope for?

What can you repeat, over and over again, to build confidence in yourself and the life you’re building?

The first Monday of the year feels pretty overwhelming, if you ask me. It makes me feel like I have to DO everything.

But actually, I just have to do one thing.

One thing that I’m committed to doing today and then practicing again tomorrow.

And so do you.

What’s your one thing?

And how can I help you practice it over and over again?

Because, funny enough, that’s my Why: helping you navigate your way to a work and life that fulfills you.

Which is also why, today, I’m opening up a limited number of spots for FREE 30-minute coaching sessions for members of my private Facebook community.

To help you get clear on the action you want to take in 2021, and move forward with confidence.

This is an opportunity open exclusively to members of the Wayfinders Collective Community, and it’s the ONLY way to receive free coaching from me in 2021.

If you haven’t already, join our community here. Then, use this form to snag one of the few open spots for free coaching with me in January and February.

These sessions will be live streamed every week in our private community, and they will be packed with insights and learning – which means that even if you don’t sign up for your own coaching session, you’ll be able to watch and instantly apply what you learn to your own journey.

Confidence is the successful repetition of any endeavor.

Let’s get some reps in, together.

Onward,
