The Power of a Fresh Perspective

I’m ducking in to send a quick message after a week-long vacation at the Delaware shore.

It’s been a great, and sometimes challenging, vacation – as trips with children often are. And yet, it’s been filled with some incredibly lovely moments:

  • Digging sand forts with my kiddo (a moment that lasted 15 minutes and made the WHOLE week worth it)

  • Date nights with my sweetie

  • Walks and talks on the beach with my mom

  • Taking my Lab swimming in Delaware Bay

  • Time to sit and read and reflect – and especially nap!

Now, as we prepare to load up the car and head back to Richmond, I’m thinking a lot about what I’ve learned this week.

(because of course, this is me – I’m always looking for the learning in everything)

And what’s coming to me today is the value of getting a new perspective.

Stepping out of our normal routines, seeing new places, meeting new people – all of it helps us refocus on what matters most, take stock of where we are in (or out of) alignment, and take action from an inspired, resonant place.

After a week in new surroundings, I am returning home with new ideas, new energy, and even more determination to take action to achieve my dreams.

While vacation is a great example of a way to spark this kind of fresh perspective, it’s not the only way to get there. In fact, it’s something I see regularly in my coaching conversations with clients, too.

Just last week I wrapped up a 4-week Coaching Strategy Intensive with a client who shared that the biggest value she saw working with me was the new perspective I brought to her thinking and her action:

“I wanted to explore limiting beliefs that were getting in the way of transitioning from the corporate to artistic world. Ashley helped me uncover the beliefs I knew were there, and together we uncovered some that I didn't even know were holding me back.”

Sometimes all it takes is a change of scenery – literal or metaphorical – to ignite fresh thinking and identify new action steps for the change you want.

If you’re ready for a fresh perspective for the career challenge or question you’re facing, I’d love to explore if the Coaching Strategy Intensive is right for you.

I am only offering it through July and there are only 8 spots left.
