THIS WEEK’S MANTRA: “Sometimes, it’s time to be bold.”

Casually thrown out like an empty coffee cup, this week’s mantra flew my way during an engaging interview with Matias Corea, a designer and adventurer who took 7 months off from his job to ride his motorcycle from Brooklyn to Patagonia. After years of planning, learning to fix motorcycles, and stressing about logistics, Matias decided it was time to be bold.

I’ve had a few moments lately where I, too, have felt the call to be bold. It’s uncomfortable, it’s awkward, even kind of messy. Being bold might mean putting your own needs first. It might mean disappointing others. It might mean doing both.

In the midst of mulling over whether I felt ready to be bold, a wise new friend asked me: “Ashley, what is true for you in your heart?” In an instant, I saw clearly that being bold wasn’t optional. It was a must. There simply was no other option.

When was the last time you stopped, paused and asked yourself this question? What is true for you, in your heart? Where might you bring a bit of bold back into your life?

In courage,
